Our classic ribbed knee-high compression socks are made with cotton and offer lightweight, breathable 15-20mmHg compression, suitable for everyday wear.
What does "graduated" compression mean?
Simply put, "graduated" compression means pressure is not uniform throughout the garment. Unlike "targeted" or "uniform" compression socks, "graduated" compression socks are engineered so they are tightest at the ankle and gradually decrease in pressure as they move up the leg toward the knee.
Graduated compression socks come in a variety of pressure strengths, typically expressed in the following ranges:
- 15-20 mmHg: mild compression
- 20-30 mmHg: moderate compression
- 30-40 mmHg: strong compression (often a prescription is required)
The 15-20 mmHg range is considered mild to moderate, making it great for everyday wear, travel, and managing mild swelling or muscle fatigue.
"mmHg" =Β millimeters of mercury
It's a unit of measurement used to determine the amount of pressure the socks apply to your legs.
What are the benefits of graduated compression socks?
Graduated compression socks are designed to work with your bodyβs natural circulation. By applying the most pressure at the lower leg, these socks help push blood and fluids back toward the heart, preventing them from "pooling" around the feet.
- Reduces Swelling: Effectively minimizes edema (swelling) in the ankles and feet after long periods of sitting or standing.
- Improves Circulation: Supports healthy blood flow, making them a top choice for managing varicose veins and preventing blood clots (DVT).
- Enhanced Comfort: Unlike bandages or pneumatic devices, graduated stockings are easier to put on and remove, providing a practical solution for daily wear.
